How Much Will My Granite Countertops Cost

The first thing on your mind when you think of getting granite is the price. The first words out of almost every customer calling me on the phone are: “How Much”?

“How Much?” when it comes to granite is a variable. That is why when someone asks me how much, I usually respond with the following questions:

1) How big is your kitchen (vanity(s), bar, fireplace)? The size of your job will give me a better idea of how many square feet of granite you will be using, and I can estimate the amount of cutting and polishing and the time it takes to install a job that size.

Occasionally a customer will assume that I can give them a square foot price without these details. I’ve even had a few get mad because I wouldn’t give them an approximate price without knowing these details. So now if they refuse to divulge any details I can safely say that a price of anywhere between $50 and $130 per square foot is reasonable. Because frankly almost every regular job is within that price range.

2) What kind of granite do you want? Sometimes a person has not yet decided on what colour their granite is supposed to be. So what I do is use the most cost effective granite I have in stock as a starting point.

3) Where do you live? I can install a 40sf kitchen in Regina using beautiful good quality low priced granite for, lets say, $2400.00. If you live in Estevan or Swift Current, of course the cost of travelling out there is going to add to the costs.

4) Can you bring me a drawing? At Stone Age Granite in Regina I pride myself on being able to give you an accurate quote on your project based on the oddest drawings on the weirdest materials. I’ve had drawings on napkins, the back of a small piece of plywood, on the reverse side of a business card and on a McDonalds brown take out bag. As long as I have some measurements, I can ask the right questions and get a very accurate number.

If you are thinking of granite come see us. I’ll show you the 200 plus slabs we have in stock, where we cut them and polish them, and a few of the projects we have on the go.

At Stone Age Granite we don’t guarantee the lowest price, but we do guarantee the best service and the highest quality products. And more often than not we have the best price too!
